CMST Reads for the Record

August 30, 2016

The Children’s Museum of St. Tammany would like for you to join us as we participate in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®.  This is the 11th anniversary of Read for the Record®, and we are excited to help set a new world record for the world’s largest shared reading experience.

On October 27, 2016, we’re joining children and adults from around the world to celebrate Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®! Be a part of the world’s largest shared reading experience by registering to read, ordering special editions of “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich” by Julia Sarcone-Roach (featuring reading tips & more!), and downloading free resources at readfortherecord.org.

Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Jumpstart provides language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promotes quality early learning for all children. By participating in Jumpstart’s year-long program, children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path for lifelong success.

We are working with St. Tammany Parish Public School System to encourage our local Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, Transitional First Grade and First Grade students and teachers to participate in the shared reading. We ask that the community also participate by reading the book at home or at your local library.

Thank you so much for your support of Read for the Record® and for the future Children’s Museum of St. Tammany.
